Start with the device, not the charger
Check the maximum charging input supported by the phone, tablet or laptop you want to power. A 100W charger does not force 100W into a device; compatible USB charging standards negotiate a suitable level. Buying far more wattage than your devices can use may add cost without improving charging speed.
Understand USB-C Power Delivery
USB-C is a connector shape, while Power Delivery is a charging protocol. Two products can both use USB-C but support different charging capabilities. For laptops, confirm that the charger and cable both support the required wattage. Some phones also use proprietary fast-charging systems, so the fastest advertised speed may require a specific charger and cable combination.
Multi-port chargers share power
A multi-port charger may advertise one maximum total output. When several devices are connected, that output can be divided between ports. Check the product specification for power distribution with one, two and three devices connected if simultaneous charging matters to you.
Cable quality matters
A capable charger cannot deliver its full performance through an unsuitable cable. Higher-wattage USB-C charging can require an electronically marked cable. Replace damaged cables, avoid loose connectors and use cables rated for the power level you need.
Choose for your routine
For a phone and earbuds, a compact lower-wattage charger may be enough. For a laptop plus phone, a 65W or higher multi-port unit can be more practical. Think about what you charge together, not only the largest number printed on the box.
